Self-Esteem has been a serious issue for most of our lifetimes. The advent of social media and immediate contact virtually anywhere, has put a magnifying glass on this issues. A large number of people are suffering with self-esteem issues. These can take a multitude of forms from body image issues to simply believing inaccurate things about themselves. Cyber bullying and bullying bring a lot of these issues to the forefront or help in their creation. People of all ages and sexes can have self-esteem issues. Whether it is body-image issues, or beliefs that "I'm not good enough to try-out/apply/volunteer for that". We pre-judge ourselves based on things we decided to believe. Gary Craig, the founder of the Emotional Freedom Technique, talks about "the writing on our walls." These messages come from parents, teachers, friends, enemies, strangers and ourselves. These messages aren't necessarily bad but they may be limiting. Through various techniques such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Hypnosis, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) we can find these beliefs and change them or erase them. There are no easy fixes, but there are little things that can make things easier.
